NEO Activities

It is our pleasure to have a continuing and constructive collaboration with researchers from the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research - HCMR! Last week we met with members of the transitional waters team of Τομέας Βιολογικής Ωκεανογραφίας Ελκεθε - Biological Oceanography, HCMR in the field to collect sediment and water samples from Gialova wetland to be used for further analysis in the lab.

The aim of the campaign was twofold. First to cover the sampling needs for the European Water Framework Directive (WFD 2000/60 / EC), which is coordinated by HCMR. Secondly to establish two new sampling stations for #benthos sampling and #benthiccommunity analysis.

The new stations will provide a better coverage of the whole wetland and the data will be used in on-going NEO projects which aim to identify and suggest nature-based solutions for the restoration of the wetland.

More news coming out soon!
