MEETING OUR INTERNS

Nadia and Marika are Biomedical Science students at Deree - The American College of Greece, who chose NEO for their summer internship. They undertook two projects relating to monitoring traffic density and the mapping of vehicle parking patterns, in order to collect data on the pressures exerted on Messinia Natura 2000 protected areas by tourism and transportation.

The interns designed and distributed questionnaires targeting tourists’ perceptions of ecosystem services offered by the natural biotopes of the region and gathered data regarding visitor’s perceptions of infrastructural and organizational issues present in the area.

The interns are grateful for the learning opportunities and new experiences they gathered over this year’s NEO summer 2022 internship.
